June 7, 2018 -SMART Transit Decides to Expand Service Hours
After consideration of transit service expansion options, the SMART Transit
board of directors has decided to expand service hours instead of the addition
of a third fixed route. The decision was made after reviewing the results of two
separate surveys, one specific to SMART riders and the other to 600 randomly
selected households, as well as public comments collected from community
The expansion of service hours is scheduled to begin on August 1st, and will extend both East and West fixed routes and Dial-A-Ride services by one hour operating from 6:40 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on weekdays, as well as add Saturday service which will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Further information regarding route adjustments to accommodate for the Farmer’s Market closure of Main Street will be announced in the coming weeks as the schedule revisions are performed.
