SERVICES MADE POSSIBLE BY THESE PARTNERS:
March 17, 2020
As impacts from the COVID-19
virus continue to evolve, the safety of the community as well as staff are of
utmost concern to SMART Transit. Beginning on Thursday,
March 19, 2020, SMART Transit fixed routes, serving the West and East areas of
town, will be temporarily suspended. The SMART Board of Directors will reassess
this service closure on April 3, 2020.
The Dial-A-Ride service will continue to provide a limited service at this time. In an effort to limit exposure, Dial-A-Ride trips will be limited to critical trips only, Monday through Friday. These trips include medical appointments, grocery/pharmacy visits, and to and from work – up to a maximum capacity of 90 rides per day.
SMART is also implementing
additional comprehensive disinfecting measures on all fleet vehicles.
“Our organization cares deeply about the community members we serve and I understand these measures will have a significant impact. I encourage any of our riders to reach out to our office with concerns about their specific mobility needs. I want to stress that these are temporary measures aimed at limiting exposure to the virus. SMART will return to full operations as soon as is feasible.”
Updates to service provisions will be announced via social media channels. Follow SMART Transit on Twitter @MoveSmartMoscow and Facebook for the most up-to-date information.
